Tadhg O'Connell
I am a Product Designer from Ireland. My creative story began at an early age, constructing my own self-initiated projects in my father’s furniture factory. Designing products is the ultimate culmination of everything that excites me, from understanding the psychology and needs of a user, to problem-solving through hundreds of sketches, to bringing an idea to fruition.
I have a keen interest in sustainability. I believe that true sustainability needs to move beyond sustainable materials or tokenistic waste management systems and must move into a place of designing emotionally durable products whose entire life cycles have been considered. In my practice, I do this with a focus on high-quality, emotionally and physically durable products designed for disassembly and designed for repair. I believe these are principles and processes that should be applied to design across all sectors in order to be truly sustainable.
With a thirst for knowledge and a desire to constantly push boundaries, my work focuses on a data-driven, human-centric approach, delivering meaningful product experiences to the physical world that always keep the balance between creativity and functionality, elegance and efficiency.
